As the Xbox Series X/S continues to mature, Microsoft’s gaming platform is steadily building a solid collection of titles. Consoles usually hit their stride in the latter part of their lifecycle when developers start focusing exclusively on the latest hardware rather than split their efforts between multiple generations. Although the Xbox Series X/S hasn’t fully reached this stage yet, it’s certainly heading in that direction.
The past few years have been fantastic for gaming, especially in the open-world category. Titles like Elden Ring, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, A Plague Tale: Requiem, and Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, released in 2022, delivered a diverse range of experiences. The following year offered its own surprises with games like Dead Space, Street Fighter 6, Hi-Fi Rush, Remnant 2, Forza Motorsport, and Lies of P. So, what are the upcoming Xbox games that have us buzzing with excitement, and which titles are expected to launch in 2024?
Keep in mind, the focus here is on the North American release dates for Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One games, including any expansions.
Updated November 27, 2024: As the year draws to a close, there aren’t as many new announcements for 2024. However, we’re excited to see titles like Railroads Online, Road Maintenance Simulator 2 – Winter Services, Hunting Simulator 3, Glitch Hero, Penguin’s Road, Uncle Chop’s Rocket Shop, Love Too Easily, and Beat the Machine: Rebooted on the horizon for Xbox.

Xbox Games Coming Out In February 2025
Avowed, Assassin’s Creed, Monster Hunter, Civilization, & More
February 2025 seems set to be a monumental month across all gaming systems. With many publishers rushing to release big titles before the financial year ends in March, February tends to overflow with blockbuster titles. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 and Civilization 7 are both launching simultaneously, though they cater to different audiences and demand deep player engagement.
The month will also feature Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Although the road to its release has been far from smooth, there’s hope Ubisoft’s venture into Japan will satisfy fans. The challenge lies in updating and modernizing three rather divisive entries with Tomb Raider 4-6 Remastered; if they succeed, Angel of Darkness might finally garner a positive reception.
Obsidian’s RPG, Avowed, is poised as Xbox’s major console exclusive for February 2025. Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii promises a thrillingly wild ride with Sega’s iconic series. Finally, the month wraps up with the anticipation-building release of Monster Hunter Wilds. February looks packed and promises to be incredibly rewarding.
