Fast Travel Games, a well-known name in the VR industry, has just revealed that their latest VR shooter, “Action Hero,” which draws inspiration from “Superhot,” will be launching on Quest next month.
“Action Hero” introduces an exhilarating gameplay experience by utilizing the time-manipulation mechanic made famous by “Superhot” and its VR counterpart. In this game, time advances only when you move, allowing players to strategize their moves with precision, much like the cinematic prowess of John Wick.
Mark your calendars for December 12th, as “Action Hero” makes its debut on Quest 2 headsets and newer models. What’s unique about this title is that players embody the lead in five distinct ‘movies,’ each belonging to various genres.
According to Fast Travel Games, each movie is divided into four acts featuring five scenes apiece. To advance, you must outsmart adversaries and deftly maneuver through obstacles in captivating slow-motion sequences. As you speed up your movements, time quickens, so sharp reflexes and a knack for tactical planning are key. Should you take a hit, you’re sent back to square one of the act you’re in.
The studio has teased several genres, including a classic heist caper, a thrilling Indiana Jones-style adventure, a techno-futuristic cyborg tale, and a ninja escapade, the latter showcased in their latest trailer above.
In addition to taking down enemies in epic slow-mo battles, “Action Hero” features boss fights and a variety of weapons tailored to each movie. Plus, for those seeking an extra layer of challenge, there are five additional ‘Director’s Cuts’ offering revamped levels filled with fresh, demanding, and sometimes whimsical scenarios to master.
Set exclusively for release on Quest 2 and later models, “Action Hero” will be available on December 12th for $20. If you’re eager to get your hands on it, you can add it to your wishlist on the Horizon Store today.
