The much-anticipated Doomed Course Chapter for Dead by Daylight is now ready for download, and it comes with a price tag of $7.99. This latest DLC introduces exciting additions, such as The Houndmaster, marking the debut of a Killer with a loyal AI-controlled companion. Additionally, players will meet a new Survivor, Taurie Cain, whose abilities are intriguingly centered around the theme of sacrifice.
With its roots as an asymmetric survival horror game, Dead by Daylight has been captivating its audience since 2016. By late 2023, it had amassed over 60 million players worldwide, with millions engaging with it monthly even a year later. This enduring appeal is largely thanks to the steady stream of new content rolled out roughly every three months, keeping the gameplay fresh and engaging.
Continuing this trend, the Doomed Course Chapter was launched on Thursday, November 28. The Thanksgiving update introduces The Houndmaster and Taurie Cain to the game’s dark universe. Portia Maye, aka The Houndmaster, isn’t alone in her pursuit; she’s aided by a menacing canine companion capable of tracking, cornering, and immobilizing Survivors. This innovative game mechanic gives a new twist to the Killer’s role by continuously amplifying the pressure on players.
Operating the hound is straightforward: its Chase ability can be directed to charge at targets or maneuver mid-charge. Meanwhile, the Search ability unveils survivors within an ever-expanding radius, providing The Houndmaster with a speed boost if she follows in the hound’s wake. Portia Maye’s introduction enriches the Killer roster, offering players new dynamics in the familiar chase and escape gameplay loop.
On the flip side, Taurie Cain steps in as the game’s “morally darkest Survivor,” according to Behaviour Interactive. Her past involves betraying a sinister cult, the Black Talon, by sparing an innocent. Her character is equipped with three unique perks: Shoulder The Burden, Clean Break, and Invocation: Treacherous Crows, each reflecting her sacrificial nature. These abilities empower her to aid fellow survivors, albeit with drawbacks such as becoming Injured or Broken.
Doomed Course is available for $7.99 and brings with it an exclusive Killer item known as the Titanium Skull, plus a unique Survivor cosmetic, the Gold Tier. If Behaviour Interactive stays true to form, we can expect another chapter to hit the Dead by Daylight landscape by late February or early March of 2025.
