Back in August, the launch of “Star Wars Outlaws” was less than stellar. While it received lukewarm critical acclaim, the game was also riddled with technical problems, ranging from minor graphical glitches to severe bugs that could break your progress entirely. Particularly frustrating was an issue that required some PlayStation 5 players to erase their save data just to iron out some nasty bugs, forcing them to start all over again.
Fast forward a few months, and “Star Wars Outlaws” has seen some significant improvements. Ubisoft has been all ears regarding feedback from the gaming community, rolling out a series of updates to gradually enhance the gameplay experience. Yet, it’s the latest Title Update that really steals the show, as it introduces a host of fixes and features that address many of players’ longstanding issues.
The newly launched 1.4.0 update brings about some significant tweaks to the game, particularly in its often-criticized stealth mechanics. Now, if you’re caught during a stealth mission, it doesn’t automatically mean you’re going to face a mission failure. Plus, you’re no longer forced to sneak around when exploring zones dominated by syndicates.
The update also introduces a revamped detection system. Now, players get a heads-up when an enemy starts to notice them, complete with a visual cue if a takedown might alert surrounding guards. They’ve even refined some stealth features, so calling out to enemies won’t just draw a single guard’s attention anymore.
Combat has also seen a batch of updates in this recent patch. Enemies now come with weak points, and targeting them will trigger unique animations depending on where they’re hit. Kay’s blaster has been fine-tuned for better precision, rewarding careful aiming, and headshots pack an extra punch now. The AI of opponents has been polished too, with the bad guys using cover more effectively and reacting to nearby explosions with staggering movements.
A neat little addition allows Kay to holster larger weapons when she’s speeding around or engaged in climbing and grappling.
Many players felt let down by the game’s visuals at launch, especially during character dialogues. However, the 1.4.0 update aims to rectify this by adding more lifelike facial animations during conversations and polishing the overall look of cutscenes.
But the latest update isn’t just about fixes. Ubisoft has also rolled out the first story DLC for “Star Wars Outlaws,” titled “Wild Card.” In this new adventure, Kay Vess teams up with the charismatic Lando Calrissian for a high-stakes Sabacc tournament, which just might be the push some fans need to dive back into the game.
If you’re ready for an epic adventure, this is your chance to navigate the vast and open worlds of a galaxy teeming with opportunity. As Kay Vess, you’ll engage with various planets, each offering fresh escapades and challenges waiting to be conquered. Whether you’re fighting, thieving, or negotiating your way through the galaxy’s criminal underworld, the choices are yours, but every decision will weigh on your reputation.
Prepare to pilot The Trailblazer through thrilling space battles against The Empire and other foes, where tactical maneuvers will be key to gaining the upper hand. Embrace the risky lifestyle of an outlaw, and watch as your actions shape your journey in this galactic saga.
