The gaming industry is seeing an exciting shift as Rebecka Coutaz, currently the general manager at DICE, steps up to lead the UK-based Criterion as well.
As noted by GI.biz, Coutaz is now the VP and GM of Battlefield Studios Europe, marking a significant expansion in her responsibilities. Criterion, a key player in EA’s Battlefield series since their involvement starting with 2016’s Battlefield 1, will keep contributing alongside the teams at Motive and Ripple Effect in the U.S.
With a solid background, Coutaz initially joined DICE in November 2021 after leading Ubisoft’s Annecy studio. Reflecting on her journey, she mentioned, “Since arriving at DICE, it’s been a rewarding experience to collaborate with an incredibly skilled and diverse team. I’m thrilled to take on this broadened leadership role, steering the future of two iconic studios, each with a distinct and rich legacy.”
She continued, “DICE and Criterion have been trailblazers in the European gaming scene. My vision is to enable these teams to innovate and push boundaries, enhancing the player experience. By bringing together the unique creativity of each studio, we aim to nurture and expand the Battlefield franchise on a global scale, in collaboration with Motive and Ripple Effect. It’s an exhilarating time as we forge the future of Battlefield, and I can’t wait to welcome enthusiastic individuals who want to join us on this journey.”
