Torn Banner Studios, the team behind Chivalry, is facing some tough changes as they announce upcoming layoffs.
Steve Piggott, the CEO and creative director, shared the news on LinkedIn, explaining that the company will unfortunately have to reduce its workforce as part of a restructuring plan. However, the specifics, like how many people will be affected, haven’t been disclosed yet.
The silver lining is that those impacted by the layoffs won’t be left completely in the lurch. Piggott mentioned that they will be receiving severance packages and will also get to keep their work computers. Plus, the studio is making an effort to assist them in finding new opportunities at other companies.
“As an independent studio that’s entirely self-funded, we’re facing numerous challenges,” Piggott stated. “We’re handling this transition with a great deal of care and respect for those who are affected. Torn Banner Studios wouldn’t be what it is today without their dedication and passion.”
He reassured fans that the development of Chivalry 2 won’t be hampered by these changes.
At Torn Banner, the focus remains on creating incredible cinematic experiences, whether it’s in battle scenarios or during a zombie apocalypse. Their latest venture, No More Room in Hell 2, currently in early access, showcases their ambitions. The studio is fully invested in delivering a standout zombie experience and is gearing up for a complete release by 2025. They’re actively continuing the developments laid out in their roadmap and engaging with the community.
Concerning Chivalry 2, Piggott reassured everyone that despite its last update rolling out in early 2024, the game won’t be affected, and its servers will remain operational as usual.
