It’s been a while, but the Savage Planet adventure is set to continue! We’re gearing up for the next chapter, now with a brand-new name: Raccoon Logic. The same creative minds are behind it all, carrying forward the spirit of the original franchise.
For those who remember, our team, then called Typhoon Studios, gave life to Journey to the Savage Planet, a game that came out in 2020 and can still be found in the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog. Now, we’re excited to introduce Revenge of the Savage Planet, a hilarious survival escapade where explorers quite literally amuse themselves to death. This new sci-fi co-op adventure is landing on PS5 and PS4 in May 2025.
Get ready to dive into an alien world where you’ll create your own home base, discover the environment, and document absolutely everything with the hope of staying alive. Our sequel promises a grander universe with more planets. With co-op available right off the bat, and a fresh third-person perspective, you’ll find yourself running, jumping, shooting, and collecting across four vivid planets, all while upgrading your skills and uncovering hidden secrets.
Today, we’re pulling back the curtain on a fifth, secretive planet teeming with some… well, let’s say not-so-natural inhabitants. Some of our team members are here to share glimpses into the design thinking that brought this world to life.
But first things first, check out the video below for a sneak peek!
In this unusual world, the spirit of exploration remains crucial! Expect to catch creatures, swim in lakes, climb soaring mountains, grind on rails, and uncover a secret den loaded with fun. This fifth planet offers an indoor lair, sharply contrasting with our other open-world environments, crafted to ensure every twist and turn is unpredictable. Here’s some insight from our team members:
### A Whirlwind of Retro Arcades and 90’s Flair
>”Packed with brand-new challenges, astonishing verticality, and distinctively altered creatures, this final planet ties up all the game’s unanswered questions.”
– Reid Schneider, Studio Head
>”This digital twist serves as a storytelling tool, echoing the enigma lurking in our planet’s landscapes. Through this ominous and risky refuge, Slappi’s character comes alive, albeit alongside our signature quirky alien critters.”
– Steve Masters, Lead Designer
>”Our sound design took a similarly unconventional route, veering from traditional instrumentation to a digitally enriched soundscape. Starting with a mixture of pinball and game show vibes, we transformed it into a journey inside a massive computer filled with playful 8-bit twinkles.”
– Cameron Jarvis, Audio Director
>”We wanted to make it entertaining, and what could be more exciting than robot toys? We drew inspiration from the retro arcade era to weave this nostalgic atmosphere. The hard-surface modeling, combined with retro wave neon colors, is a tribute to the entertainment of the 90s.”
– Erick Bilodeau, Art Director
### Play Solo or with Friends—Both Locally and Online
No matter how you prefer to play, Revenge of the Savage Planet has got you covered. Whether it’s online co-op with cross-play or local split-screen couch co-op, the choice is yours. And if you’d rather fly solo, we’ve got a single-player mode just for you!
Our approach to systematic design leads to extraordinary interactions and outcomes ripe for exploration and experimentation. We’ve intricately woven this into the world, the characters, and your entire experience. Each playthrough offers something fresh and unique.
– Noemie L’Ecuyer, Producer
