Emerging fiercely from the mythical lands of Cimmeria, Conan the Barbarian is set to make his grand entrance into Mortal Kombat 1 later this month as part of the exciting Khaos Reigns expansion pack.
Conan’s inclusion in the game draws inspiration from the iconic 1982 movie, where Arnold Schwarzenegger first brought the character to life. In this iteration, while Arnold provides the visual likeness, it’s Chris Cox who steps up to deliver the voice performance. Known for his work as the Terminator in Mortal Kombat 11, Cox nails that familiar Austrian accent we’ve all come to associate with the legendary action star.
In the reveal of Conan’s gameplay, fans will notice the sword-fighting is exceptionally smooth, showcasing some of the finest animation work we’ve seen in the series’ recent history. Players should also keep an eye out for a selection of delightful Easter eggs, such as Conan battling alongside a red Sonya, and a unique Animality where he transforms into a Cimmerian bull—a nod to the tales from Robert E. Howard where young Conan famously strangled one.
For those eager to jump into action with Conan, he will be available starting January 21, but only for players who have gone all in on the Khaos Reigns expansion. The general release will follow on January 28. With Conan’s arrival, he joins an eclectic lineup of guest stars in Mortal Kombat 1, including Invincible’s Omni-Man, DC Comics’ Peacemaker, The Boys’ Homelander, and Scream’s Ghostface. And stay tuned, as the T-1000 from Terminator 2 is set to complete the impressive roster in the near future.
