Destiny 2 is stirring up excitement with its latest collaboration. This time, they’re teaming up with the legendary Star Wars franchise, introducing armor sets that draw inspiration from notable characters like Stormtroopers and Death Troopers. Fans can also look forward to a new ghost shell that’ll transform into the iconic Death Star, further enhancing the Star Wars-themed experience within the game.
Bungie is no stranger to crossovers, having recently joined forces with Street Fighter 6, which significantly expanded their premium offerings. In doing so, they’ve shown a knack for creating exciting new content for loyal players and keeping the game fresh and engaging.
During Bungie’s Episode Heresy Act 1 livestream, they unveiled this thrilling new event, bringing Star Wars-inspired armor and cosmetics to Destiny 2. Fans had been eagerly awaiting this moment as it coincided with the unveiling of Episode Heresy’s debut act and the return of the famed Dreadnaught. Leading up to the livestream, Bungie teased various changes to the game, including updates to the Trials of Osiris, a popular Destiny 2 event, and even a remarkable upgrade for one of the game’s exotic weapons. However, the livestream filled in many of the missing details, introducing the new Nether activity, weapons, and of course, the much-anticipated Star Wars collaboration.
In a particularly exciting reveal at the close of Bungie’s January 28th livestream, the collaboration with Star Wars was confirmed. Three distinct armor sets were at the heart of this announcement, each tailored to Destiny 2’s different classes. Hunters will get the Covert Ranger Set, influenced by the Death Troopers. Warlocks can acquire the Royal Protector Set, echoing the Imperial Royal Guard’s style. Meanwhile, Titans will don the Shock Enforcer Set, a clear nod to the Stormtrooper armor. These cosmetics will arrive alongside Episode Heresy’s launch on February 4th.
The collaboration isn’t limited to just armor sets. Players can also snag a new ghost shell, transforming it into the second Death Star from Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, complete with its hallmark green laser. It’s likely players will need to dip into their Silver reserves, Destiny 2’s premium currency, to snag these new items instead of using Bright Dust.
Destiny 2 has embraced collaborations as a core part of its premium content strategy in recent years. Although it hasn’t quite reached the level of Fortnite, Bungie has worked with several major IPs to bring exciting cosmetics and armor to their game. Their recent partnership with Street Fighter 6 brought in a Blanka helmet, Ghost Shell-themed items featuring Ryu, Chun-Li, and Cammy, as well as several finisher moves and an emote referencing one of Street Fighter’s classic mini-games.
