Brought to us by Greensky Games, who also developed Swarm 2, Chronostrike cleverly adopts the dynamic mechanic where time only progresses with your movements. Set in the futuristic year of 2135, this game immerses you in a world reminiscent of Christopher Nolan’s mind-bending film, Inception. Here, the intriguing premise of time used as a weapon unfolds in an era where digital memories can be hacked at will.
As a player, you team up with another agent to delve deep into a gripping storyline where survival hangs in the balance. Together, you face a centuries-old conspiracy that poses a grave threat to Earth. The gameplay is all about teamwork: you and your partner can pass weapons between each other, deflect bullets in slow motion, but beware, as even one hit can be your downfall.
With its release just last week, Chronostrike joins a growing throng of games in the SUPERHOT-like VR category. Among them is Action Hero by Fast Travel Games, which offers a cinematic experience by placing you in the role of an action star shooting different films. On the other hand, Allware’s COLD VR flips the concept on its head by having time slow down only when you move. Not to be outdone, Vendetta Forever recently introduced a ‘Hot Action’ mode for more intense gameplay.
