Have you been pleading with NetEase Games for a version of role lock in Marvel Rivals? Well, it seems your wish has been granted, albeit not quite in the way you might have expected. Instead of a variation on Overwatch’s established queuing and balancing method, we’re being treated to a fresh game mode, where each team is limited to choosing just two heroes. This is your opportunity if you’ve ever wanted to square off against a team completely mirroring your own.
The new mode is dubbed ‘Clone Rumble,’ and the concept is straightforward. Each team collectively votes on one hero for the match, and then all players can pick between these two heroes to play. Just imagine—your team could be filled with multiple Groot walls, Luna Snow ultimates, or Adam Warlock revivals. Will it be utter madness? Without a doubt. Will it be easy to keep track of the chaos? Quite the contrary.
Forget the usual Marvel Rivals setup. Here, teams can stack abilities in ways previously unimaginable, creating some wild synergies that are, frankly, impossible to balance. But who cares about balance when you can bombard your opponents with multiple simultaneous Scarlet Witch ultimates?
Beyond the wild battles, there’s a fun event wrapped around this new mode. You can journey across a board game filled with 320 different benefits, from nameplates and emotes to sprays and units. It’s a golden opportunity to gather up some extra currency for a new Marvel Rivals skin. Plus, there’s a special treat in store—Black Widow will sport an old western gunslinger look, reminiscent of her 1872 comic persona where she tied the knot with Bucky Barnes. Plenty of enticing reasons to dive into the fray.
Mark your calendars—NetEase Games has set the launch of Clone Rumble for Friday, March 7. However, they’ve kept the conclusion date under wraps, so jump in while you can.
