Later this month, Studio Fizbin, the creative force behind Reignbreaker, will be closing its doors. The announcement came from the company through a statement on their website, highlighted by Game Developer. As detailed in the statement, the shutdown will occur after the release of Reignbreaker on March 18th. Alexander Pieper, the founder and CEO, pointed out that a significant factor in this decision was Thunderful’s choice to “drastically reduce internal development.”
Pieper elaborated on the situation, saying, “The games industry is facing challenging times, and we’ve been impacted, much like many other remarkable studios recently.”
Back in November 2024, Thunderful, our parent company, announced a substantial cut in internal development, as noted by Thunderful’s CEO, Martin, in the latest quarterly report. This move also had implications for Studio Fizbin. Since then, we’ve pursued various potential projects for after completing Reignbreaker. Sadly, these haven’t progressed, which has led us to this tough decision.
Pieper continued to express deep gratitude, stating, “We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to every one of our fans. Your purchases, fan art, comments, reviews, passion, and seemingly endless support have meant the world to us.”
Additionally, we gratefully acknowledge our business partners, including Medienboard, MfG, Creative Europe, and our federal funding partners, for their unwavering support.
Lastly, our biggest thanks go to our incredible team—those staying with us until the end, and those who have moved on to forge new paths. Fizbin and its games are brought to life by its team members, and you’ve all contributed to making this an inspiring place where we worked our magic in the challenging art of game creation.”
