I recently checked out the Overture trailer and then dove into some in-depth fan videos that dissected every little detail, trying to piece together what’s going on. What are you hoping people notice in this new trailer? Are there specific elements they should really keep an eye on?
Ji-won Choi: I’ve seen those meticulous fan breakdowns too, and it’s honestly been so heartwarming to witness the enthusiasm and support from our global fanbase. What we aimed to highlight in the trailer is straightforward: we’ve heard and appreciate the meaningful feedback from our community. The trailer is our way of showing that their voices have shaped the content we’re eager to share.
Many people were cautiously optimistic about Lies of P when it first came out because no one really knew what to expect, despite it looking promising. Now that Lies of P has set a high standard, there’s a buzz around Overture. How do you handle fan feedback? Are there aspects you particularly focus on, or do you have to sometimes tune it out to maintain your creative vision?
Ji-won Choi: That’s a great question. We approach this journey as a collaboration; it’s not just about us, but also about our players. We thoroughly analyze all the input we receive to pinpoint what resonates well and what misses the mark. Feedback that aligns with our goals is easily embraced, while other suggestions, even if initially debatable, are carefully evaluated. We discuss such feedback with the development team, jot it down, and test it swiftly. This approach ensures we genuinely assess its potential impact and take the necessary steps to implement improvements.
Reflecting on the trailer, it struck me that in the core game, there’s often a sense of solitude. Sure, there’s the Hotel Krat where you encounter others, but beyond that, the world feels quite isolating. This new trailer, however, shows P amidst action, blowing a horn, and suddenly, we have Aladoro bursting through a window and a masked ally fighting alongside P. Is Overture moving towards a more collaborative narrative?
Ji-won Choi: It’s challenging to predict exactly how the emotional tone will resonate, but our focus was to delve deeper into the intriguing characters we’ve only just begun to introduce. In the original game, players encountered numerous characters through subtle hints and glimpses. With the expansion, you’ll get to know these characters much better, allowing you to experience a richer and more complete narrative that brings these intriguing personalities to life in a way we hope players find rewarding.
