Schell Games, in collaboration with Innersloth, has some exciting news for the gaming community. They’re bringing flatscreen support to Among Us VR (2022), opening up crossplay opportunities between VR and PC gamers.
They’ve decided to rebrand the VR experience as Among Us 3D, introducing PC players to a fresh first-person viewpoint—a first for the game. Schell Games ensures that Among Us 3D will seamlessly integrate PC users into cross-platform lobbies with VR players, covering a wide range of supported platforms like Quest, SteamVR, PSVR 2, and Pico headsets.
It’s worth mentioning that Among Us 3D won’t be compatible with the original Among Us (2018) 2D version. That game has retained its standalone status since the launch of Among Us VR in November 2022.
Ryan Hall, who leads the project at Schell Games, shared his enthusiasm, stating, “With Among Us 3D, we’re thrilled to extend the first-person perspective to an even broader audience. By connecting VR and PC players, we’re providing even more ways to hilariously betray your friends—now the entire crew can join in on the fun!”
The transition to Among Us 3D is expected to unfold over the coming months. Players can anticipate store pages, websites, and in-game branding to gradually reflect these changes.
Additionally, the game will introduce ‘Stardust’, a new in-game currency. This will allow players to purchase cosmetic items and contribute to the game’s expansion, according to the studios.
As for when players can dive into Among Us 3D, there’s no set launch date just yet. However, there’s a chance it might arrive sooner rather than later, as the game will be part of Steam Next Fest, offering an exclusive early demo to eager players.
