Fans of Assassin’s Creed Shadows are in for a treat, as they’ll easily lose themselves in the expansive landscapes of central Japan for countless hours. Thanks to a new update, players will now have the option to relax and take in the scenery while navigating the countryside’s gently rolling hills. This patch revisits a beloved feature, offering gamers some much-needed breathing room during those long treks across the game’s picturesque terrains.
Released on Tuesday morning across all platforms, the v1.0.2 update for Assassin’s Creed Shadows has refined the “pathfinder” feature for your trusty steed. Your horse can now automatically follow the trails, using in-game navigation to whisk Naoe or Yasuke to their next destination. This handy auto-follow option, familiar to fans from previous Assassin’s Creed titles like Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla, was, curiously, absent when Shadows debuted. Fortunately, players who prefer to take the reins into their own hands can still override this automatic feature whenever they wish.
Another fantastic tweak in this patch makes capturing the game’s awe-inspiring visuals even better. The GPS path won’t clutter your screen in photo mode anymore, allowing you to snag those perfect shots without any distractions. Moreover, the update has also sped up horse travel within cities, making urban journeys quicker than ever before.
Among the noteworthy quality-of-life enhancements introduced in Tuesday’s patch, there’s a newly added feature that lets players sell or dismantle loot in bulk. Gone are the days of tediously managing items one by one; now, you can streamline the process with just a few clicks. Additionally, Ubisoft Québec has lifted the frame rate cap in the Hideout, letting the game surpass 30 frames per second, ensuring a smoother experience. Plus, those playing on a PlayStation 5 Pro are in for a visual treat with support for Sony’s PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution—talk about eye candy!
The update doesn’t stop there. It introduces the ability to reset individual Mastery nodes for Naoe’s and Yasuke’s skill trees. While the option to respec entire trees like Tools or Shinobi had been available, the newfound flexibility to make precise adjustments to each node is sure to please players. Speaking of conveniences, a new shortcut lets you jump straight to the game’s beautifully crafted objective board by holding the Options/Menu button.
Interestingly, the v1.0.2 update leaves one thing untouched—the highly effective legendary tanto, the Igan Sunset. Its formidable perk remains unchanged, allowing players to effortlessly bounce between foes until their demise, as highlighted by our colleague Tyler Colp.
