Great news for those who love PlayStation and enjoy vibrant, colorful adventures! Last night, Astro Bot clinched the prestigious Game of the Year award at the BAFTAs, triumphing over other remarkable titles such as Helldivers 2 and Balatro.
But that wasn’t the bot’s only victory. Astro Bot also nabbed several other awards, including those for Audio Achievement, Animation, Family, and Game Design. This victory is their second Game of the Year accolade, following a similar win at The Game Awards the previous year where it competed against a host of impressive contenders throughout what has been a standout 2024.
During the ceremony, the team graciously accepted the award together. Nicolas Doucet, one of the pivotal figures behind the game, took to the stage to share a heartfelt message, acknowledging the entire team back in Japan. “A huge thank you to everyone over in Japan. They poured their heart and soul into this game each and every day, solely driven by a desire to bring joy to people, without any thought of accolades in mind.”
Nicolas went on to express his gratitude to specific team members, the talented game composer, the PlayStation community, and all the partners whose games found a place within Astro Bot. He extended his thanks to the BAFTA academy, the families supporting the developers, and the trailblazers in the gaming industry who paved the way.
