Last Thursday was a huge day for Bigscreen Beyond 2. The orders poured in at an unexpected rate, and this PC VR headset manufacturer proudly announced that the sales for their new, sleek, and lightweight headset massively outperformed those of the original model. In just 24 hours, Beyond 2 matched the sales Beyond 1 had achieved over six entire months.
The response was nothing short of remarkable. Just 25 minutes after launching, Beyond 2 had already surpassed the whole first day’s sales of Beyond 1. Within an hour, sales had doubled those of Beyond 1’s debut day. To top it off, by 10 hours in, Beyond 2 had already outsold what Beyond 1 managed to sell over its first four months.
Darshan Shankar, Bigscreen’s founder and CEO, took to X on Friday to share the most jaw-dropping figures yet. He wrote, “In the first 24 hours, Beyond 2 sold 10 TIMES the number of units Beyond 1 did on its launch day two years ago. In 24 hours, sales equaled what Beyond 1 achieved in its first six months. That’s incredible.”
What makes this achievement even more noteworthy is that Bigscreen reached these milestones without spending a dime on advertising. Shankar explained, “We didn’t hire influencers to promote our product. We didn’t shell out for pricey video advertisements. No advertising.” However, they did send some early Beyond 2 units to a handful of reviewers—around 10 to be exact. Influential reviewers like Tested, Thrillseeker, MRTV, and VR Flight Sim Guy received these units.
In case you’re catching up, the new Beyond 2 comes in two versions. One has eye-tracking (the Beyond 2e) and one doesn’t, priced at $1,019 and $1,219, respectively. While it retains the dual 1-inch 2,560 × 2,560 micro-OLED displays found in the original, the major upgrade in Beyond 2 is its wider field-of-view (FOV) and enhanced clarity—thanks in part to a revamped pancake lens design. This improvement ups the FOV to 116 degrees diagonally, a jump from the previous 102 degrees, and features an adjustable IPD mechanism, while keeping the design lighter at 107 grams.
Initially, the first batches were scheduled to ship in April (the Beyond 2) and May (the Beyond 2e), but as of the latest information, any new orders placed now are set to ship in June.
