Bungie is rolling out significant changes for exotic weapons in Destiny 2 when Episode Heresy hits in February. Fans have been eagerly anticipating these updates, as this will be the last episode before the much-awaited Codename Frontiers release this summer.
Bungie’s latest update shared a sneak peek at some exciting modifications, particularly to the exotic weapon sandbox. One weapon under the spotlight is the D.A.R.C.I. sniper rifle, which, while once a powerhouse, has fallen out of favor over time. However, Bungie aims to make this weapon viable again with some unique perks rather than just ordinary buffs.
The D.A.R.C.I. is coming back strong with a new catalyst perk named Network Targeting in Episode Heresy. This perk offers enhanced weapon performance not just for the user, but for allies wielding legendary sniper rifles. When Personal Assistant is active, precision hits will amplify damage with non-Exotic sniper rifles. Plus, the D.A.R.C.I. user benefits from a +15% damage boost after applying five stacks to a teammate.
On top of the D.A.R.C.I. changes, Bungie plans to revamp other underused exotics. Take Telesto, for instance, a complex weapon known not just for its power, but also for its quirky in-game glitches. Now, by embracing its uniqueness, Telesto will have new perks that trigger a reload frenzy and unleash a storm of Telesto bolts after certain final blows.
Additional exotic tweaks include upgrades for Thunderlord and Cloudstrike, among others. Changes to Cloudstrike, which is part of the ongoing Past is Prologue event, involve the new Bolt Charge bonus. Redesigns are also in store for the Lord of Wolves, with Fourth Horseman and Legend of Acrius shedding their niche status for broader applicability. Some recent nerfs on Quicksilver Storm are also being reversed. Heavy-hitters like Wardcliff Coil, Queensbreaker, and The Colony, along with other lesser-used weapons, are in for a boost as well.
