Exciting news for gaming enthusiasts: Indie developers Chipo y Juan are ready to unveil their newest creation, Detective VR, a mixed reality game brimming with inspiration from Minority Report. Fans won’t have to wait long, as it’s slated to hit the Quest platform next week.
Detective VR is launching on Quest 3 and Quest 3S on February 27th. This innovative MR game combines storytelling with the clever mechanics of controlling time. You’ll gather clues and question witnesses in Passthrough mode, transforming your living room into a thrilling crime scene.
Drawing on the likes of Return of the Obra Dinn, Immortality, and, of course, Minority Report, the developers promise a challenging investigative experience. Not every clue will be obvious, and with sketchy testimonies, you’ll need to toggle between mixed and virtual reality to confront suspects and piece together the mystery.
Exclusively available on the Quest platform, this game offers an immersive five-hour journey packed with narrative excitement. You’ll have the handy ability to rewind, pause, and explore scenes, helping you uncover overlooked details. Interact with a dynamic cast of six characters, brought to life through motion capture and voice acting.
Recognizable talents grace the cast lineup, including familiar faces from popular TV shows like The Crown, Succession, and Doctor Who. Actors such as Luke Mably, Angus Wright, Melissa Bright, Hannah Wright, David Clark, and Bryony Byrne lend their talents to bring this gripping story to life.
Chipo y Juan, based in Marseille, France, have already made their mark in the VR realm with past projects like VORTEX VR for Quest in 2023, along with various art exhibition experiences.
Detective VR is available for pre-order now in the Horizon Store for Quest 3 and 3S, offered at a discounted rate of $24 compared to the standard $30 price tag.
