Disney Dreamlight Valley offers players an expansive experience with a diverse roster of forty-seven unique villagers, each bringing their own charm from various films and franchises under the Disney umbrella. The game continues to evolve, promising at least three additional characters for its base version and a couple more expected in the second part of the Storybook Vale DLC by summer 2025. This influx in 2025 is set to enrich the game with a plethora of exciting characters.
However, there’s a surprising gap in the representation of one particular character type within the Disney Dreamlight Valley universe. While heroes, villains, and heroic companions have all found their place in the game, another class of character surely deserves its moment in the limelight—one that the game seems ready to showcase.
Disney Dreamlight Valley stands apart by allowing players to encounter and redeem some of the most notorious villains from Disney and Pixar’s extensive histories. This interactive aspect has afforded these nefarious figures a rare, sympathetic portrayal—something less common in typical Disney or Pixar storylines. These companies have occasionally toyed with the idea of redeemable villains but have traditionally shied away from fully embracing it until Disney Dreamlight Valley opened that door.
Yet, even more relatable than the villains themselves are their often-overlooked sidekicks. Despite the exclusion of these memorable companions from the simulation game, there’s a rich history of villainous allies from Walt Disney Animation and Pixar films—including some already seeding the game. While some heroic sidekicks have gained entry, like Mushu, Timon and Pumbaa, and Olaf, they came alongside their respective protagonists, Mulan, Simba, and Anna and Elsa, bolstering Disney Dreamlight Valley’s vibrant village.
Given the established pattern, it seems logical that villainous sidekicks might join Disney Dreamlight Valley following the arrival of their villainous leaders. Despite a robust lineup, the game’s base version features only six villains, with Maleficent anticipated to join the fray in the summer of 2025. Not every villain in Disney’s pantheon has a sidekick to their name, yet several memorable henchmen could seamlessly fit into the game’s character roster.
Disney Dreamlight Valley’s audience might soon see familiar faces like Hades’ comedic minions Pain and Panic, or animal accomplices such as Jafar’s parrot, Iago, Ursula’s slithering eels, Flotsam and Jetsam, or Scar’s hyena trio—Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed—venturing into the game. Yet, perhaps the most enticing addition could be LeFou, the human sidekick to the pompous Gaston. With Gaston’s persona delightfully exaggerated in the game, LeFou could contribute a unique dynamic, offering a counterbalance via his Friendship Missions, further enhancing the game’s penchant for crafting engaging redemption arcs.
As new villains continue to march into Dreamlight Valley, it feels only just that their trusty allies should eventually accompany them into this digital playground.
