Eager for more content to spice up your Pokemon TCG Pocket collection? You’re in luck because there’s a brand new expansion on the horizon, hitting shelves next week. This expansion includes a fresh booster pack that offers you the thrilling opportunity to snag a Mew.
Exciting news came straight from the game’s official Twitter account, revealing this expansion is named Mythical Island and is set to launch on Tuesday, December 17. The social media manager humorously shared, “I kicked in a lot of doors to get this information to you. (Realistically, I asked REALLY nice and cried a little).”
Now, if you check out the trailer, you’ll spot a whole bunch of new cards. And yes, Mew, Aerodactyl, and Celebi are part of the new ex cards available in the Mythical Island booster pack. This pack is perfect for anyone who’s worn out by drawing endless Doduos (or should I say Dodui? Who’s to say?).
The trailer’s description highlights, “The Mythical Island expansion features over 80 cards, including five new exciting Pokémon ex cards, five new Trainer cards, and gorgeous immersive cards ready to bring you into the wondrous world of Pokémon.”
There are also some new binder and display board covers featuring the picturesque scenery of Mythical Island. Now, you can send your band of mythical creatures on a little imaginary getaway, which seems fitting given Pokemon’s unique brand of fantastical, albeit slightly morally questionable, zookeeping. Think about it too much, and it gets a bit weird.
Do the Pokemon truly enjoy being seemingly immortal beings forced into card battles? Who can say? But, with The Pokemon Company announcing TCG Pocket has surpassed 60 million downloads, there’s little point in overthinking it. Messing with that many enthusiasts would be quite the risk—not to mention, I’d be included in that number, so no sense in annoying myself!
