HOOP-O Studios, an up-and-coming indie developer known for its innovative mixed reality games, is gearing up to release its latest project, “Alex and the Jets,” on Quest 3 next month.
Imagine stepping into a vibrant, casual arcade flying adventure where you take the reins of Alex the Squirrel, who pilots a charming little propeller plane. As you navigate this exciting world, you’ll encounter pesky aerial foes from a gang called ‘The Jets.’ These adversaries burst in through virtual portals that pop up on your walls, challenging you to shoot them down. To add to the thrill, race through donut-shaped goals that offer hidden treasures like weapon upgrades and health boosts.
The fun doesn’t stop at dogfights, though. For those days when you want to unwind, the game features a free roam mode. Glide around your room at your leisure, with no pressure. The game’s local leaderboards let you keep track of your progress and compete with friends. Plus, there’s a touch of style in the mix— you can head to the in-game store to deck out Alex with a variety of cool new outfits and cosmetics.
One of the more impressive aspects is the gameplay footage featured in the trailer, all captured directly on the device using the headset’s camera. This gives a promising peek into the kind of immersive experience the game aims to offer.
While a specific launch date hasn’t been pinned down yet, HOOP-O is optimistic about rolling out the game on the Horizon Store come April. It’s designed for both Quest 3 and Quest 3S, ensuring a broad appeal for VR enthusiasts ready to take flight with Alex.
