Game Source Entertainment, teaming up with Tokyo Virtual Theory, has officially announced that their rhythm-based roguelike action game, Ratatan, will soon be available on the Nintendo Switch.
This game steps up as the spiritual successor to the much-loved Patapon, crafted by Japan Studio and Pyramid. The adventure unfolds on the vibrant island of Rataport, a place that buzzes with life like a playful toy box amidst the expansive and peaceful sea. It’s home to an unusual creature named Ratatan, who shares this lively world with their companions, the Cobun.
Despite the differences in how they look and act, Ratatan and the Cobun are united by a single dream: to journey to The Everafter and meet The Goddess believed to reside there. They are unwavering in their determination, ready to try repeatedly until they achieve their dream.
The game’s development involves a collaborative effort with Hiroyuki Kotani, the producer of the Patapon series. Players take on the role of Ratatan, needing to wield magical instruments in rhythm to guide the Cobun armies to battle foes. Mastering the rhythm sequences propels the game into Fever Mode, transforming the music and triggering unique character actions.
Expected to hit the digital shelves of the Nintendo eShop globally, Ratatan is set for launch on the Nintendo Switch in 2025.
