The team behind Skyblivion, the ambitious mod that aims to recreate The Elder Scrolls IV using the Skyrim engine, has reached a major milestone. They’ve announced that the landscaping work for every region of their Cyrodiil map is now complete.
While there’s still plenty to do before they can meet the planned 2025 release, this achievement marks a significant step forward. The team shared via a tweet, “With the Niben Basin and Valley complete, all of Cyrodiil’s landscape has had at least a first pass. Next up: Improve previously worked areas of the map to bring them to higher standards.”
This update follows last month’s news that the modders were focused on finalizing the world map, with just the Nibenay region on Cyrodiil’s eastern border left to finish. Now, that’s another task they can cross off their checklist.
However, there’s still much work ahead. According to the developers, tasks like navmeshing remain. This process is essential, as it prevents NPCs from struggling with navigation, ideally reducing occurrences of them getting stuck— which unfortunately happens even in the original Skyrim or Oblivion games.
Additionally, the team is still knee-deep in designing interiors, specifically focusing on quest locations that demand extra time and creative concepting. As of last month, work had yet to commence on six quests.
