February 2025 might be a quiet month for major video game launches, but that’s just been shaken up by the announcement of a cool release you might want to check out. Mark your calendars for the arrival of Keep Driving, a unique driving RPG where you engage in turn-based battles while collecting all sorts of items.
If this delightfully odd game hasn’t hit your radar yet, I got my first taste during the Steam Next Fest demo last year. That session ended with a memorable—though slightly embarrassing—defeat by a puddle. At its core, Keep Driving is about a road trip to a friend’s house, requiring you and your car to face the usual challenges of both driving and human necessities like eating and sleeping along the way.
The complete version of Keep Driving is set to hit the digital shelves on February 6, available on PC through Steam. This exciting update came courtesy of a friendly tweet from its creators, the Swedish developer YCJY Games.
Alongside this announcement, there’s a new trailer to explore. Expect to see some wild turn-based car skirmishes against everything from tractors to sheep and even potholes. The trailer also teases the different vehicles you might pack full of essentials, whether it’s for you, your car, or hitchhikers you collect on your journey. While I enjoyed tooling around in the demo’s almost-Volvo, I can’t deny the allure of channeling my inner Johnny Cash in a rugged pickup truck.
For now, Keep Driving is a PC exclusive, but there’s a hint from one of the developers that it’s eyeing a future console debut, with the Nintendo Switch being a strong contender. Personally, I’d love to see a PS2 version, offering a seamless switch between this and some classic Need For Speed Underground action.
Until those console plans are confirmed, I’m hoping the full release of Keep Driving will rev up the same captivating experience that first caught my attention.
