The modding scene for Helldivers 2 has been buzzing with creativity, turning out some really intriguing modifications lately. If you’re a fan of games like Crazy Taxi or Halo 3: ODST, you’re in for a treat. Recently, the first full-fledged “Warbond” style mod has just hit the scene, and it’s looking pretty impressive.
Let’s get one thing straight upfront: while this mod mimics the Warbond style, it doesn’t include all the official features that Arrowhead’s official Warbonds typically have. However, if your main interest lies in trying out new armor, this mod has definitely got you covered.
Introducing the “modded Warbond” as named by the creator, modder Jayypino, it’s called ‘Dogmatic Reach’—a name which, as you’ll see, fits perfectly. This mod brings in a selection of new armor sets and helmets that blend elements of Helldivers 2 with the iconic gear from Halo 3: ODST. The result is a look that feels somewhat Spartan yet isn’t as glaringly conspicuous as mods where you’re dressing up as Master Chief. Jayypino describes it as “something different, but familiar,” featuring “custom vanilla styled textures” designed to mesh seamlessly with the game’s existing armor sets.
The new armor sets replace existing ones in the game and offer alternative paint jobs, giving you options for a more fierce helmet design and a sleek blue color scheme. This aesthetic has been featured in another Warbond-style mod by Jayypino, known as ‘SEAF Specialists’ from The Grave Situation Team.
To experiment with this mod, you’ll need the latest version of Teutinsa’s ‘HD2 Mod Manager.’ Once set up, you can check out the three new armor sets: Chimera, Hydra, and Cyclops.
But that’s not all that’s been happening in the Helldivers 2 community. Recently, there was quite a stir when a dataminer inadvertently triggered an Aurora Borealis-like phenomenon while interacting with obelisks. Meanwhile, an enthusiastic artist has crafted a detailed 14-page mockup envisioning what an indoor dungeon mission could bring to the gameplay.
