Recently, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 laptop GPU has made an appearance online via an LG laptop, confirming its existence and offering some intriguing details about the model.
During the CES 2025 event, NVIDIA showcased its next-generation RTX 50 mobile platform, highlighting models like the GeForce RTX 5090, RTX 5080, 5070 Ti, and 5070 GPUs. However, the introduction didn’t focus much on the mid-range 50-class and 60-class models. Thanks to insights from @BullsLab, it’s now clear that LG is preparing to use the RTX 5050 GPU in its new laptop model, the 2025 Gram. Interestingly, this laptop will initially ship with the RTX 4050 and the RTX 5050 will be introduced later.
Reports suggest NVIDIA intended to unveil the RTX 5050 at CES 2025 but revised this plan, which explains its mention in LG’s promotional materials. It seems the LG Gram 2025 will eventually include an RTX 5050 version, indicating that the 50-class series will likely enjoy pin-to-pin compatibility with its predecessors. This compatibility will enable LG to seamlessly integrate the GPU upgrade, sharing the same power and physical connections.
As for the GeForce RTX 5050 mobile GPU itself, it’s expected to boast 8GB of GDDR7 memory, utilizing the GB207 silicon. Codenamed “GN22-X2,” this graphics card aims to offer enhanced performance and efficiency. Leaks suggest a performance leap that might even see the RTX 5050 rival models like the RTX 4070, which would place it a tier above its class.
Currently, NVIDIA plans to introduce four models from the RTX 50 series on its mobile platform, with additional models anticipated to join the lineup in the subsequent months.
