Minisforum recently unveiled its cutting-edge AMD Ryzen-powered lineup, including a remarkable MoTD and a compact Mini PC equipped with the Ryzen 9 9955HX "Fire Range" CPU.
Two New AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX "Fire Range" Innovations from Minisforum: MoTD & Mini PC
At the "Japan IT Spring Week," Minisforum showcased its latest and upcoming innovations that integrate AMD Ryzen processors. The range features MoTD (Mobile on Desktop) motherboards, Mini PCs, and NAS solutions.
Minisforum F1FGM MoTD Motherboard – Perfect for Desktop Enthusiasts with Ryzen 9 9955HX
First up, we have the Minisforum "F1FGM," part of the MoTD series, now powered by the newest Ryzen chip. This motherboard boasts a mATX format with ample heatsinks for the VRMs, M.2 slots, PCH, and even an IO cover. It’s set to be the successor to the BD770i and BD790i series that utilized the Dragon Range "Ryzen 7000HX" CPUs, now updated with the Fire Range "Ryzen 9000HX" series.
With the MoTD, users can opt for the AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX chip, packing 16 cores and 32 threads on the Zen 5 architecture. It can turbo up to 5.4 GHz and includes a hefty 64 MB L3 cache. Although its default power rating is 55W, on this desktop-class "mobile" motherboard, it can be pushed up to 160W, delivering a premium user experience.
The board allows configurations with additional CPUs, including an "X3D" option. A vapor chamber baseplate is employed for cooling, as these mobile CPUs do not come with an IHS. The VRM is designed with a 13-phase Duet rail configuration and 60A SPS power stages.
When it comes to memory, the motherboard offers four DDR5 DIMM slots in a standard UDIMM layout, supporting up to 256 GB and speeds reaching 8000. The X870M chipset, a mobile-grade design, resembles the B850 series closely. You’ll find two PCIe slots (5.0 x16 and 4.0 x16) and three M.2 slots, one of which supports Gen5x4 speeds. Plus, there are two SATA III ports, along with modern IO like USB4, 5GbE LAN, and Wi-Fi 7—in addition to two BIOS DEBUG LEDs.
Minisforum MS-A2 Mini PC – Compact Form with Robust IO and Fire Range Power
The other standout product featuring the AMD Ryzen 9000HX "Fire Range" CPUs is the MS-A2 Mini PC. This device builds upon the MS-A1 series, formerly incorporating Ryzen 8000G CPUs. Its Fire Range CPUs support the most recent IO solutions, including three M.2 slots—one doubling as U.2—10 GbE LAN via an SFP+ port, and a PCIe 4.0 x8 slot for low-profile cards.
Different from the MoTD, the Mini PC’s motherboard comprises two SO-DIMM slots accommodating up to 96 GB memory capacity with 5200 MT/s speeds. The IO is rich, featuring two USB 3.2 Gen Type-C ports, two USB 3.2 Gen 2, a USB 2.0, alongside two 10 GbE LAN ports, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.0, and DP+HDMI outputs.
Minisforum N5 PRO – Bringing Strix Power to NAS Solutions
Lastly, there’s the Strix-powered "N5 PRO" NAS, carrying up to the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor with 12 cores, 24 threads, and a Radeon 890M integrated GPU. This NAS is designed to accommodate five 3.5-inch bays, configurable in RAID, and features a toolless design for easy drive swapping. It supports up to 48 GB DDR5 SO-DIMMs and has a single PCIe 4.0 x4 slot for video interface customization.
Each bay can handle up to 22 TB of HDD storage, supplemented by three PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots (2x Gen4x1 and 1x Gen4x2). For networking interfaces, there’s a 10 GbE and a 5 GbE Ethernet port, complemented by IO with three USB 3.2 Gen1 ports.
Stay tuned for Minisforum to introduce these advanced solutions in the upcoming months. More details are on the horizon!
