A whopping 2,500 games have been released. Seriously, can someone hit the brakes on this overwhelming deluge?
So, let’s catch up on some news from last week. In North America, we had a surprise addition of Ironfall Invasion for the 3DS, being a noteworthy +19 week. There’s a lot of whispers about a possible security issue with it—hopefully we won’t have to pull it out like in previous dramas. We also had the Archives release of the elusive Fantastic Night Dreams Cotton. Ending the week with a solid 65 games, we’ve already topped last year’s total, bringing our cumulative count to over 2,500 releases. As I kick off what I lovingly call the "Hell Months" at work, trust me, I’m feeling the heat already. But let’s move on, shall we?
The major standout this week is a comeback story of sorts. Hironobu Sakaguchi, the creative mind behind Final Fantasy, may be unveiling his final console release with Fantasian Neo Dimension. Previously an Apple Arcade staple, it’s leaping to consoles along with Fitness Boxing 3, which is being released by Nintendo outside of Japan. The classics also make a return with Roller Coaster Tycoon games supposedly adapted for consoles. The much-anticipated Diesel Legacy: The Brazen Age, which you might have seen teased at several gaming expos, is finally available. AntonBlast is also making an appearance, although we’re still in the dark about its price.
On the quirkier side of things, the EggConsole line is rolling out Riglas—a side-scrolling RPG reminiscent of early Ys III, accessible even without knowing Japanese. And brace yourself, as it seems we’re getting the first console game based on the MasterChef TV franchise, serving up what looks suspiciously like "exotic tartare."
