NVIDIA has found itself in the spotlight after a wave of reports claimed the GeForce RTX 5090 GPUs were becoming unusable. Increased chatter about the issue has prompted the tech giant to take action.
With users experiencing similar problems with the RTX 5090 and its Chinese counterpart, the RTX 5090D, the situation has quickly escalated. As many try to pinpoint a solution through various troubleshooting tactics, most attempts have unfortunately fallen short. Only a handful have managed to find temporary relief through unconventional means, leaving the majority still grappling with malfunctioning hardware.
NVIDIA, now fully aware of the widespread problem, has confirmed it’s on the case. According to PC Gamer, the company had a brief comment on the situation, stating:
> “We are investigating the reported issues with the RTX 50 series.”
This acknowledgment from NVIDIA at least shows that they recognize there’s an issue worth delving into, though specifics remain under wraps. If you’re just catching up, numerous RTX 5090 and 5090D users have experienced black screens post-driver update, unable to get their displays to work.
This black screen problem was a common thread across user complaints as it reliably appeared after installing NVIDIA’s latest driver. However, reverting to the previous driver doesn’t seem to alleviate the issue, as the GPUs fail to be recognized by the system. In more severe cases, even tinkering with the BIOS settings proves ineffective, with the GPUs remaining invisible both in Device Manager and BIOS.
While the precise cause is still a mystery, some speculate it could be a fault in the software or driver architecture rather than hardware defects. Until NVIDIA provides a comprehensive solution, users are stuck in this frustrating limbo as the quest for an effective fix continues.
