NVIDIA and AMD are reportedly gearing up to launch their budget-friendly GPUs in May, setting the stage for a showdown in the mainstream GPU segment.
### NVIDIA & AMD Gear Up for Mid-Range GPU Market with RTX 5060 & RX 9060 XT
As it stands, those seeking GPUs in the lower to mid-tier market haven’t had many choices lately. This is particularly due to the scarcity of latest-generation options from NVIDIA, which have been hard to come by and priced well above their suggested retail prices. Similarly, the demand for AMD’s RX 9070 series has pushed their prices higher, making it tough to find them at MSRP. But now, both companies appear to be readying new offerings for mainstream consumers. According to a report by Benchlife, we could see launches from NVIDIA and AMD as soon as next month.
Starting with NVIDIA, they are expected to unveil the GeForce RTX 5060 by May 19. This GPU is anticipated to come equipped with 8 GB of GDDR7 VRAM, running at 28 Gbps across a 128-bit memory bus. The GeForce RTX 5060 will also feature a boost in power consumption, with a 35W increase in TDP over the RTX 4060. Here’s a quick snapshot of how the RTX 5060 stands compared to its predecessors:
– 25% More CUDA Cores
– Same Memory Capacity
– Faster GDDR7 Memory at 28 Gbps
– 64% Increased Bandwidth
– 30% Higher Power Rating
On AMD’s side, we’re looking forward to the launch of the Radeon RX 9060 XT, which is slated to debut at Computex on May 21, though it might not hit retail shelves until June. The RX 9060 XT will feature the Navi 44 die on a 128-bit bus interface and will be available in both 8GB and 16GB configurations, resembling NVIDIA’s RTX 5060 Ti. This GPU is said to contain 2,048 Stream Processors—half that of the Radeon RX 9070 XT—and will boast game clocks at 2620 MHz and boost clocks at 3230 MHz. It’s clear this GPU is designed to deliver impressive 1080p and 2K performance.
We’ll be on the ground at Computex 2025 to cover the launches of these new GPUs from NVIDIA and AMD. If we’re lucky, we’ll even offer early sneak peeks. The competition in the mid-range GPU market is definitely heating up, and May promises to be an exciting month.
