A fresh season of Overwatch 2 brings a slew of exciting new skins, and for those who love a bit of nostalgia, loot boxes are making a comeback. During the Overwatch 2 Spotlight presentation this past Wednesday, Blizzard unveiled an array of cosmetics set to debut in Season 15 and continuing into future updates. Fans were treated to a peek at several new Mythic skins and an upbeat theme inspired by the mahou shoujo, or magical girl, genre.
Blizzard even highlighted a new legendary skin for Venture, which has been a rarity up until now.
In the upcoming Season 15 of Overwatch 2, players can look forward to a Mythic skin for Zenyatta, taking inspiration from the Chinese pixiu, a mythical fusion of lion and dragon. The Chinese influence doesn’t stop there, with additional skins for Hanzo, Kiriko, Moira, Orisa, Reinhardt, and Sigma. This timing coincides with Overwatch 2’s return to the Chinese market next month after a lengthy absence due to a fallout between Blizzard and Chinese publisher NetEase back in 2022, affecting several titles including World of Warcraft.
But let’s move past the business talk and dive into what you’re really here for—the new skins. Season 15 features a blend of shop-exclusive and battle pass skins, including the new Toxic Venture design.
Moreover, the season will usher in Rainy Day-themed cosmetics for several characters like Mei, Mercy, Kiriko, Orisa (who will sport a recolored Rubber Ducky skin), and Tracer (showcasing a recolored Graffiti skin). Some of these can be earned through gameplay, perfect for gearing up for those April showers.
Widowmaker is all set to receive a Mythic weapon skin this season, boasting a sleek, albeit questionably comfortable, design riddled with spider eyes.
Looking ahead, Blizzard previewed what lies beyond Season 15, including a conceptual Mythic weapon skin for Reaper. This design reflects his dual nature with two uniquely designed shotguns—perfectly edgy for the character.
Finally, in a move sure to excite fans, Blizzard announced a series of magical girl skins for characters like Juno, Kiriko, Brigitte, Mercy, Widowmaker, D.Va, and the newcomer, Freja. Dubbed Dokiwatch, these skins are heavily inspired by Sailor Moon, bringing a touch of frill and charm to the game.
In the meantime, players can expect a variety of gameplay tweaks and additions, including new perks and a Stadium game mode, to keep them engaged as they await the release of the Dokiwatch set in the seasons to come.
