After facing significant criticism, the PS Stars Wallet funds reward has made a partial comeback for many users worldwide. Earlier today, a $5/£5 reward (or the local equivalent) became available again for a wide range of players. For some, it’s the only denomination they can access, while others now find they have multiple denominations ready for redemption.
Interestingly, the revival of PS Stars Wallet funds has occurred irrespective of users’ PS Stars levels or their PS Plus subscription status. Some members reported seeing their Wallet funds return after they either renewed their PS Plus subscription or upgraded to PS Plus Premium. However, it’s important to note that neither the status of a player’s PS Plus membership nor their level within PS Stars affects the availability of the PS Store credit.
For instance, as a PS Stars Level 4 member with just a PS Plus Essential subscription, I’ve consistently had access to the £10 Wallet funds reward. This morning, the £5 option also became available to me. Additionally, many players who aren’t active PS Plus members have reported finding the same Wallet option restored to their accounts.
Sony has been remarkably silent about the situation throughout the past month, leaving many users to seek answers from PS Support. Unfortunately, the responses from support agents have often been confusing or downright nonsensical. It’s still uncertain whether the full range of Wallet funds rewards will eventually return for everyone.
In a related development as of this morning, it seems Sony has resolved the issues surrounding PS Store video game rewards. Players can finally use their points to redeem games that were previously locked until yesterday.
