There are countless projects out there that aim to merge elements of one Fallout game into another, but the latest twist takes the beloved Fallout universe to a surprising new platform: The Sims 2. Introducing The Sims 2: New Vegas, a fan-created “remaster” that exemplifies the creativity of Fallout enthusiasts finding novel ways to express their passion.
This intriguing endeavor is still under development, with progress being shared on a dedicated subreddit, thanks to the diligent work of Baron Pulitzer. By day, Pulitzer—who uses the online moniker FalloutPropMaster—runs an independent film production company. Over the past week, they’ve been diligently documenting their project’s progress, as spotted by TheGamer.
Pulitzer shared, “I’ve been growing impatient waiting for a remastered version of Fallout: New Vegas. I’d love to see a remaster that not only revisits the original game but also explores some of the content cut during its beta phase.” They were inspired to start this project after discovering some user-generated casino uploads by ‘lilipad’ on ModTheSims, which prompted them to endeavor to recreate New Vegas in The Sims 2 to the best of their ability. Although they’ve previously modded Fallout 3 and New Vegas, this marks their first venture into modding The Sims, offering both a nostalgic journey and an exciting new hobby.
So far, they’ve laid down plans for various buildings within their Mojave Wasteland neighborhood, which will naturally include iconic locations like The Strip and Freeside. Additionally, they’ve recreated the Prospector Saloon from Goodsprings—an essential starting point for such a project.
They’ve also been crafting some characters. For instance, they’ve shared images of Vulpes Inculta, everyone’s favorite Legion wolf hat guy, hanging out with some ghouls and playing kickball. There’s also a household of companions, likely bonding over the shared experience of being used as cannon fodder by a certain courier with a penchant for stimpaks.
On the technical side, the latest images reveal a modified version of The Sims 2’s user interface that captures the classic Fallout feel, which is a neat touch.
This project is definitely one to watch, especially if you’re revisiting The Sims 2 through the Legacy Collection’s remaster. If you’ve found yourself hankering for another adventure across the Mojave—perhaps as a cannibal with a peculiar craving for Mr. House, or someone who unwittingly lands in hot water with the NCR while pursuing the independent Vegas route—this fan-made crossover might just hit the spot.
