SNK is turning heads with its latest release, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, now available on Xbox Series X|S. This game reintroduces a classic feature with the exciting Two-Lane Battle system, immersing players in a dynamic fighting style that harks back to arcade glory days.
Hey folks, I’m thrilled to share the exciting news about a feature we’ve introduced in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves. It’s been 26 years, but we’ve finally brought back the Two-Lane Battle system. This feature offers a fresh layer of strategy, allowing players to switch between foreground and background lanes during fights, launching strategic combos across both!
Conquer the Two Lanes
In certain stages, this new system unfolds with two lanes—the foreground and the background. Players can switch lanes with a special move, setting the stage for a strategic battle where your position can mean the difference between victory and defeat. The options to attack or defend hinge on your lane positioning, introducing new layers of tactical gameplay.
When you dive into the Dream Amusement Park “Morning” stage, you’re in for a nostalgic Two-Lane battle ride. At launch, this is our only Two-Lane enabled stage, but expect more stages to join the lineup soon. Starting out, both you and your opponent occupy the same lane, but a press of X and RB switches things up. Want to add some flair with your lane switch? Hit A and RB to launch a special jumping lane switch attack.
Once you and your opponent are in different lanes, the real fun begins. You can attack from the ground with X, or from the air using A or B, with the added option of pressing Y to pull your opponent into your lane. Fancy cross-lane combos? Mid-combo jumping lane switches will make your attacks even more spectacular.
To give you a peek at the kind of combos you can pull off, here’s one featuring Rock:
X → Y → A + RB → B → Heavy Rising Tackle (Brake) → Heavy Hard Edge.
Incorporate these lane switches into your combos, and your gameplay will never be the same!
Reviving the Classics
The Two-Lane Battle style is part of Fatal Fury’s DNA. It first appeared in the original 1991 game and is back to create that nostalgic arcade feel in City of the Wolves. We’ve even included this feature in the training mode, encouraging players to get creative with it. Whether you’re a longtime fan or a curious newcomer, experience the delightful chaos of these battles anew.
