Earlier today, news broke from industry insider NateDrake that Xbox’s long-standing exclusive, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, is expected to make its way to the PS5 in 2025. Interestingly, another beloved Xbox shooter might join the PS5 lineup even sooner.
### Gears of War on PlayStation: A Potential 2023 Release
Word from Jez Corden over at Windows Central suggests that a trio of Xbox exclusives is looking to cross over to the PS5. Fans might see Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, Age of Mythology, and Gears of War: Ultimate Edition landing on Sony’s console around 2025.
NateDrake also hinted that not only Halo: The Master Chief Collection but also Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 could arrive on the PS5 this year. He added an exciting tidbit about Final Fantasy 7 Remake and its sequel, Rebirth, making their way to Xbox, likely in 2025 and 2026. If Corden’s predictions hold, Microsoft could achieve a landmark year in sales.
Corden remarked, “Assuming these rumors pan out — and remember, rumors can change course swiftly — Microsoft could be poised to make more money from content than ever before. With a substantial roster of first-party games underway, including unannounced projects pegged for the Xbox Showcase in June, Microsoft is certainly gearing up for a big year.”
He further elaborated, “Whether for PlayStation or Nintendo Switch, most games would either launch right on time or within a few months after. This shift promises the developers involved a revenue boost and the chance to elevate their game-making ambitions.”
Whispers about Gears of War moving to PlayStation have circulated since early last year. Launched initially on the Xbox 360 back in 2006, Gears of War has become a flagship series for Xbox. The 2015 Ultimate Edition breathed new life into the classic with enhanced graphics.
It’s not entirely unexpected to see Xbox titles migrating to the PS5. Titles such as Pentiment and Sea of Thieves are already on Sony’s turf, with Indiana Jones and the Great Circle aiming for a release later this year. The potential migration of iconic series like Gears and Halo is noteworthy due to their historical ties to Xbox. Yet, as with all rumors, it’s best to remain cautiously optimistic until we get an official confirmation. Stay tuned for more details as these possibilities unfold.
