Between February 4 at 10 a.m. and February 18 at 10 a.m. PST, gamers playing in both the Seasonal and Eternal Realms can immerse themselves in the mystical vibes of the Lunar Awakening event. A strange and magical occurrence is sweeping through the shrines of Sanctuary, bringing with it an incredible surge of prosperity and power. Participants of the event often believe that these blessings come from their Ancestors, honoring this joyous celebration from beyond.
During this unique event, interacting with any Shrine you find in Sanctuary, including those in Nahantu, will grant you a 100% bonus to your experience gain (multiplicative) for two minutes, alongside boosted powers. Plus, you’ll earn Ancestral Favor Reputation as you do so.
To fully embrace the Lunar Awakening spirit, make your way to Ked Bardu and venture into the Northern part of town. There, you’ll encounter Ying-Yue, the leading figure of the Lunar Night Market. This market acts as your central hub throughout the Lunar Awakening event, where you can use your Ancestral Favor Reputation to redeem Unceasing Gifts from the Ancestors, as well as various decorative Lunar Renewal-themed goodies.
Lunar Shrines are scattered across Sanctuary, waiting for you to find them. Whether you’re exploring the dense wilderness or delving into deep dungeons, these shrines hold the promise of abundant Ancestral Favor Reputation as you battle and conquer.
These special Lunar Shrines resonate with the powerful energies brought by the spirits of ancestors. Replacing regular shrines during the Lunar Awakening event, they offer a refreshed appearance to celebrate the year of the snake and grant players a whopping 100% experience bonus upon activation. While they operate similarly to traditional shrines, these Lunar Shrines come with enhanced abilities specifically for this festival. They’re easy to spot too, thanks to their distinct map icons.
Each shrine also introduces a special bonus effect, unique to this event, alongside the usual Shrine powers. Here are the added benefits you can enjoy:
- Artillery Shrine: Your casts might call down a holy bomb.
- Blast Wave Shrine: Explosions now summon a cluster bombardment.
- Channeling Shrine: Experience faster attack speeds and a chance to reset cooldowns.
- Conduit Shrine: Calls down powerful lightning strikes.
- Greed Shrine: Summon a Treasure Goblin when the shrine is active.
- Lethal Shrine: Potential to instantly dispatch a struck monster, sending surrounding monsters into a state of Fear. (This works on Elites but not Bosses or other players.)
- Protection Shrine: Reflect all incoming damage, scaling with your level and difficulty.
The moment you activate a Lunar Shrine, Miserly Spirits quickly appear, allowing you to immediately benefit from these shrine enhancements.
As you progress through the 10 levels of Ancestral Favor Reputation, you’ll unlock a variety of rewards, including a dazzling Resplendent Spark and six distinct Lunar-themed cosmetic items, such as the new Trag’Oul’s Consort mount. Once you’ve reached the pinnacle of reputation levels, you can continue to collect rewards through additional Unceasing Gifts from the Ancestors.
