It’s the last day of January, and with it, Xbox Game Pass is saying goodbye to Darkest Dungeon and five other titles. These removals double the number of games that left the service in January 2025.
Microsoft typically shifts content in and out mid-month and at month’s end. Earlier on January 15, we saw games like Figment: Journey Into the Mind and Insurgency: Sandstorm exit the lineup, along with a few others.
Now, another batch of six games will be leaving today, which includes Anuchard, Broforce Forever, Darkest Dungeon, Death’s Door, Maquette, and Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem. Among these, Death’s Door stands out as a significant loss, boasting an impressive 88 average rating and a 99% recommendation rate on OpenCritic, making it a standout in the Xbox Game Pass collection.
Xbox Game Pass Games Leaving January 31, 2025
Here’s a quick look at what’s leaving:
- Anuchard: Joined Feb 2024, with a playtime of 7–10 hours.
- Broforce Forever: Added Aug 2023, takes about 7–17.5 hours to beat.
- Darkest Dungeon: Entered the catalog in Jun 2021, requiring 57–129 hours to complete.
- Death’s Door: Available from Jan 2022, lasts 9–15.5 hours.
- Maquette: Arrived Jul 2023, can be finished in 3.5–5.5 hours.
- Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem: Joined in Jul 2023, offering 4.5–14 hours of gameplay.
Microsoft doesn’t usually specify the exact time games are pulled, but typically, they stick around until the end of the scheduled day. If you’re on the West Coast, you have approximately 12 more hours to enjoy these games. While squeezing in all but Darkest Dungeon and Death’s Door is feasible, it will be a stretch.
Xbox Game Pass Content Catalog Has Finally Returned to Growth
After a period of contraction since summer 2024, where removals consistently outpaced new additions, the Xbox Game Pass is finally expanding again. This month, we’ve seen 12 games depart, contrasted by 13 new arrivals. Most were announced in advance, with Ninja Gaiden 2 Black being the surprise drop from the Xbox Developer Direct 2025 on January 23.
Looking ahead, on February 4, the library is set to grow with the addition of Far Cry New Dawn. This date will also mark the announcement of the upcoming February 2025 games for Xbox Game Pass. Among the anticipated releases is Obsidian’s Avowed, scheduled for February 18.
