Nintendo of Europe is gearing up to host an exciting online competition, the “Super Smash Bros. Ultimate European Online Challenge: Winter Clash 2024.” Set to take place in the vibrant world of the Nintendo Switch game, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, this event promises to bring players from across Europe together. Based in Frankfurt, Germany, Nintendo of Europe SE is organizing this thrilling online battle.
The tournament is scheduled for Friday, December 6th, from 6 PM to 8 PM CET (or 5 PM to 7 PM for UK participants). It’s open to residents from a broad array of countries including Austria, Belgium, and Bulgaria, all the way to Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom, to name a few. However, players located far from central Europe, such as those in the Azores or Svalbard archipelago, might face participation restrictions to ensure fair gameplay.
To join in on the fun, participants need to have a Nintendo Account registered in one of the eligible countries. An active Nintendo Switch Online membership is also a must, but don’t worry, any membership type — even a free trial — will do just fine. Players will need access to the game on Nintendo Switch and need to complete at least one event tourney match using their Nintendo Account. To dive into the tournament, head over to the main menu, select “Online,” and then choose “Official Tourney Qualifiers.”
The event focuses on achieving the highest Tourney score, a unique rating system exclusive to special events like this one. Scores reflect a player’s skill based on match results and the skill level of opponents faced. Scores can be viewed at any time during the competition, allowing players to keep track of their progress. And to keep things exciting, there’s no limit to the number of matches participants can play to boost their scores. Even if a match starts during the official event window but ends afterward, it still counts toward the Tourney score.
For those who perform exceptionally well, there are some enticing rewards up for grabs. The top 10 players will each earn 2,500 My Nintendo Gold Points, while those ranking 11th to 100th will receive 1,000 Gold Points each. But do keep in mind, if a participant changes their country setting to a non-eligible location between joining the event and when prizes are sent out, they’ll be disqualified. Nintendo takes a firm stand against cheating and any exploitation of game bugs or breaches of the Nintendo Code of Conduct, with such actions leading to disqualification and potential account suspension or termination. And remember, prizes are personal; they can’t be transferred or exchanged for cash.
After the event wraps up, Nintendo will credit the winners’ Nintendo Accounts with their Gold Points within two weeks. Winners can confirm their points by checking the My Nintendo Point Log.
For all participants, the terms in the Nintendo Account Agreement, Nintendo Account Privacy Policy, and My Nintendo Rewards Programme apply. So get ready to play, have fun, and good luck out there!
