Japanese developer Tango Gameworks is contemplating the idea of creating a sequel to their 2023 hit, Hi-Fi Rush.
In a conversation with IGN, Colin Mack, the head of the studio, shared that while they’re definitely giving thought to a new project, they’re not in a position to officially announce any plans for a follow-up just yet.
“We are considering a sequel positively,” Mack expressed. “However, we haven’t reached a point where we can definitively say, ‘This is what we’re going to pursue.’”
Adding to this, John Johanas, the director of Hi-Fi Rush, mentioned that the game holds a special place in the hearts of many team members, which opens up a world of possibilities for them. “We’re currently exploring various opportunities,” he stated, hinting at exciting prospects.
Project manager Kazuaki Egashira shed light on the essence of Tango Gameworks, emphasizing their ever-present drive to innovate and offer fresh experiences. “Hi-Fi Rush gained popularity as a novel IP,” Egashira explained, “but if it remained static, it would eventually lose its charm.”
Egashira further noted, “Tango Gameworks thrives on embracing new challenges. My hope is that we continue to place our developers at the heart of our endeavors, all while maintaining our enthusiasm and fervor.”
