Virtuix has just unveiled an exciting update for their Omni One VR treadmill system—a tourism app that’s bound to thrill explorers and tech enthusiasts alike. This app allows you to virtually traverse some of the world’s most iconic sites.
Set to launch on March 6th for the Omni One integrated system, the app is called TREKS. It cleverly pairs immersive video with actual walking, transporting users to breathtaking spots like the majestic Grand Canyon, bustling New York’s Central Park, and the historic corridors of Riyadh’s Fort Masmak.
Developed by Virtuix’s in-house team, Virtuix Studios, TREKS will be available exclusively through the Omni One Game Store, priced at $30.
In its debut, TREKS will feature four prominent destinations:
- Grand Canyon – Roam the trails and drink in the views of this awe-inspiring natural marvel.
- Niagara Falls – Feel the thunderous falls from both the American and Canadian perspectives.
- New York City – Walk through the vibrant cityscape visiting landmarks like the Statue of Liberty, Times Square, and Brooklyn Bridge.
- Saudi Arabia – Explore the historical richness of Fort Masmak and admire the impressive Al Rajhi Mosque.
Virtuix Studios is also planning to roll out more destinations as downloadable content (DLC) in the future, promising to add more landmarks, historical sites, and natural wonders to the list. Plus, Trek is not just a thrilling virtual experience; it’s also a fitness tool, with the company stating that one hour of walking within the app can burn around 500 calories.
Jan Goetgeluk, CEO of Virtuix, shares, “TREKS is designed to give you the sense that you aren’t merely looking at these famous places—you’re actually touring them. It’s a fantastic way to combine staying fit with the joy of exploration. TREKS brilliantly melds fitness with adventure.”
The Omni One system, retailing at $3,495, includes the innovative VR treadmill and a modified Pico 4 Enterprise headset. This headset can run native apps thanks to its internal processor or connect to a VR-ready PC either wirelessly or with a cable.
This news follows a recent update from Virtuix that the Omni One now supports over 55 games, including popular titles such as Arizona Sunshine Remake, Arizona Sunshine 2, and Into The Radius.
Moreover, Omni One’s all-in-one setup is compatible with SteamVR games through its Omni Connect PC Driver. This feature allows users to customize controls and tweak settings to enhance games that weren’t specifically tailored for immersive walking experiences.
With such impressive features and expanding content, Virtuix’s Omni One and its TREKS app are set to redefine how we experience global landmarks from the comfort of our homes.
