Sid Meier’s Civilization VII is scheduled to hit PCs and consoles on February 11th, but fans of virtual reality have something extra to be excited about. Firaxis and 2K Games have announced that the game will also arrive on the Quest platform this spring.
This Quest-exclusive edition is specifically designed for the Meta Quest 3 and 3S headsets. It offers a fresh twist by letting players build their empires from a first-person viewpoint, providing the immersive experience of towering over a vibrant map in both virtual and mixed reality modes.
Developed by PlaySide Studios and published by 2K, the VR iteration of Sid Meier’s Civilization VII is set to include both solo and online multiplayer options, accommodating up to four players in a match. So whether you prefer going head-to-head with friends or teaming up, there’s a mode to suit your style.
What’s more, players can expect to see the return of the game’s legendary world leaders. These characters will come to life like never before, confronting players directly and reacting dynamically based on the strategies they employ, whether that’s forging new alliances or stirring conflict.
While there’s no specific release date pinned down yet, 2K has revealed that you can expect this VR adventure to launch sometime in spring 2025, as announced at the Civ World Summit event over the weekend.
For now, if you’re eager to reserve your spot in this immersive world-building experience, head over to the Horizon Store where you can wishlist Sid Meier’s Civilization VII – VR for the Quest 3 and Quest 3S.
