If you’ve been feeling a bit limited with the 22 heroes in Deadlock, Valve has a treat for you. Just when you thought the third-person MOBA couldn’t get better, they’ve rolled out four fresh faces. These new characters, who’ve made their way out of the Hero Labs, might still need some visual tweaks, but they’re all set to shake things up in gameplay.
Last year, Deadlock unexpectedly emerged as one of the most thrilling MOBA games on the scene. Although its player numbers have dipped recently, there’s no better way to reignite interest than by introducing a few new faces to the battlefield.
If you’ve been venturing into Deadlock’s Hero Labs regularly, you’ve likely caught a glimpse of the new heroes’ abilities and styles. Now, Holliday, Calico, Vyper, and The Magnificent Sinclair (a name that truly stands out in multiplayer gaming) are stepping out of the lab and into the main game. While we’re still waiting on official patch notes and detailed ability rundowns, Valve has given us a teaser of what to expect.
Holliday is a sharpshooter wielding an “heirloom revolver and a spirit lasso.” Calico, a “feared assassin,” masterfully navigates the shadows and can even transform into a cat. Vyper, a humanoid lizard, provides infinite ammo when sliding and has a knack for “spraying lead and poison” across the battlefield. And then there’s The Magnificent Sinclair, a magician able to “summon a spectral assistant, turn enemies into rabbits, and use rivals’ abilities against them.”
In Valve’s announcement, they revealed that expanding the hero lineup is high on their agenda for this year, even if it might be a bit ahead of schedule. “Growing our hero roster is one of our main focuses for 2025. While some characters might feature more temporary art than we’d like, we’re thrilled to see how they fare in combat,” the statement reads. With these new additions, Deadlock now boasts a lineup of 26 characters.
Exciting news: these four new Deadlock heroes are live and ready to join your gameplay right now.
