Valve has added the Steam Deck OLED to its certified refurbished lineup, offering gamers a chance to snag these devices at a significant discount. The refurbished OLED units are about 20% cheaper than their brand-new versions, making it a tempting offer for those who want premium gaming without breaking the bank.
Both the 1TB and 512GB models of the Steam Deck OLED are available under this refurbished scheme. The 1TB model comes in at $519, whereas the 512GB version is priced at $439. If we compare this with new purchases, the 1TB model typically runs at $649, and the 512GB at $549, giving you a $120 and $110 saving, respectively. Interestingly, the 1TB OLED refurbished model is even $30 less than buying a new 512GB OLED.
As for other Steam Deck options, the only new version that beats this refurbished OLED pricing is the older 256GB LCD variant, which you can pick up for $399. Valve also offers refurbished versions of the LCD Steam Decks across all three models—64GB, 256GB, and 512GB—but unfortunately, they’re currently out of stock. Meanwhile, new versions of the 512GB and 64GB LCD models are no longer available.
It’s worth noting that the Steam Deck OLED is packed with more upgrades than just the OLED screen. This revamped model sports a 90Hz refresh rate and a 7.4-inch display that supports HDR, boasting 400 nits of brightness and peaking at a dazzling 1000 nits in HDR mode. This is a step up from the previous 7-inch LCD model, which lacked HDR support and capped at 60Hz with 400 nits.
Internally, the upgrades continue. The OLED version features a beefed-up battery, moving from a 40Wh to a 50Wh setup, promising anywhere between 3 to 12 hours of gameplay depending on what you’re playing. Valve had advertised a 2-8 hour battery life for the older LCD models. Additionally, the RAM has been upgraded to a faster 6400 MT/s LPDDR5, and the AMD APU now benefits from a more efficient 6nm process, down from 7nm.
Currently, these refurbished Steam Deck OLEDs are available in select regions like Canada, the EU, the UK, and the US. They come with a one-year warranty, though this might extend depending on where you live.
