Winking Studios, a big name in the Asian gaming outsourcing scene, has just pulled off a significant acquisition by purchasing China’s Mineloader. The deal is valued at £16.3 million ($19.87 million), with an upfront payment of $14.7 million and the rest to be paid over the next five years, contingent on Mineloader reaching certain performance targets.
Founded back in 2003, Mineloader is well-known for its expertise in art outsourcing. Johnny Jan, the CEO and founder of Winking Studios, commented on the acquisition, saying, “This is our largest acquisition so far and it’s a crucial move for us, strengthening our position in the global video game industry. It opens up exciting new opportunities for growth and innovation.”
Jan went on to emphasize the importance of game art in video game development, highlighting how it forms the visual backbone and creative spark that captivates players and defines their gaming experiences. Mineloader, with its strong track record and specialized focus on game art production, brings a talented team of over 460 employees to the table. This addition significantly bolsters Winking Studios’ service capabilities, which already boast over 800 employees, and will no doubt attract new clients. The fact that Mineloader has solid experience in the Japanese market adds another layer of value to Winking Studios’ business network.
