Insomniac Games has finally addressed the clamor among fans eagerly awaiting news about Marvel’s Wolverine PS5. The developers have made it clear that they’ll share updates when they’re good and ready, and they won’t be swayed by pressure.
When a follower openly criticized the studio via Twitter, claiming that Insomniac is ignoring PS5 players who are desperate for Wolverine updates, the studio decided to reply. The comment came amid discussions about the Spider-Man 2 PC port, with the disgruntled follower sarcastically calling them a “great team.”
Normally, Insomniac might let such tweets slide, but their social media team chose to respond this time. “We’ll release news about the game when we’re ready,” they stated, emphasizing the word “we.” They added, “That’s always going to be our response. Everything takes time, resources, and the green light, so we can’t just jump because something’s demanded.”
Despite these assertions, Insomniac confirmed they are still “actively” working on Wolverine.
The studio recently endured a tough time dealing with a massive ransomware attack towards the end of 2023, leading to a substantial leak of Wolverine’s alpha footage. Although they were clearly upset by the breach, Insomniac assured gamers that this unfortunate incident hasn’t derailed the game’s development or their plans to reveal more about it.
Marvel’s Wolverine first got its announcement back in September 2021, and updates have been sparse since. Given the trend of lengthy development cycles in the gaming industry these days, it looks like fans may need to practice patience before laying eyes on substantial gameplay.
